Car Mechanic: Your Timing Belt Explained

The timing belt is usually made of strong rubber material. It’s located near the front of the car in the engine. It links the camshaft to the crankshaft, which manages the pistons of the engine. Because it constantly moves inside the motor whenever you run your car, the timing belt is under considerable stress. This is why they wear out and will need to be replaced as part of your car’s preventative maintenance plan. You don’t want this sucker breaking on you because it can seriously rip up an engine. The timing belt which grip gears as they’re rotating various engine parts and components. As the timing belt wears out, these teeth break away, which can cause it to slip. This can cause the engine to stall. That’s a good sign you need to get your car to your trusted auto mechanic as soon as possible.
