Winter’s around the corner. That means it’s time to make a car repair list and check it twice. And at the top of that list, especially as it gets cold, is flushing your radiator. Overtime, radiators naturally build up contaminants. Your coolant also builds up a number of impurities that can corrode the radiator, making it less efficient and ineffective. Most mechanics will recommend flushing your radiator every 40,000 miles. You can purchase a litmus test kit to test your radiator. The flushing process involves removing the coolant, flushing it with fresh coolant and then filling it again with new coolant. It’s a good way to preserve the radiator and optimize the lifetime of your engine.
