The New BMW M2 C5: An Indulgence of an Automobile

Posted 5/4/20

Welcome to 2020. This year, BMW goes back to its luxury car roots with the BMW M2 C5—a limited edition model that will have only 2,200 total built. This rare BMW will have a starting price of $84,595, which is admittedly only a couple of grand shy of the starting price of the 7-Series flagship sedan. Though admittedly the regular BMW M2 isn’t a bargain either with a starting price at $55,000. That’s the price of luxury. But did we mention that the M2 C5 is limited edition?

BMW M2 C5: What Makes it So Special?

Because it is a limited edition, its unclear how many of these exclusive beauties will wind up in the U.S. Though it may be  unlikely that we’ll see them in our Cincinnati auto repair shop, our Cincinnati BMW mechanics can dream.

Because there really is a lot to get excited about when it comes to the BMW M2 C5.

Motor Authority reports:

“For example, peak output registers at 444 horsepower, thanks to the addition of the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-6 fitted to the M3/M4 instead of the regular M2’s single-turbo engine. The regular M2 makes 365 hp while the M2 Competition added for 2019 makes 405 hp.”

“The car also comes with a 6-speed manual as standard, while a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission is offered as an alternative. BMW said with the dual-clutch transmission, the M2 CS will sprint from 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds while that drops to 4.0 seconds with the manual. Top speed should be about 174 mph.”

The exclusive BMW M2 C5 also boasts a carbon fiber hood, roof, and multiple aero parts. Did we mention carbon-ceramic brake rotors, some very tasty matte gold wheels, and Michelin Cup 2 tires?

Yeah, we love repairing cars, especially European cars at our auto garage. But we’d really love to take one of these babies out for a spin.

Overheated Engine? Tow Your Car to the Nearest Auto Repair Shop

Have an overheating engine? If your temperature gauge hits red, immediately pull over and call a tow truck. You need to stop driving and get your car to the nearest auto repair garage before you drive 10 more feet. Otherwise, you’ll risk blowing the engine — a thousand dollar repair if you’re lucky. If the vehicle overheats often and loses coolant, you might have a problem with the radiator. Keep a constant eye on the coolant. If you notice coolant under your car when it’s parked, it may be time for a new radiator. Bring it in to our Cincinnati shop for a closer inspection.
