Car Repair 101: How Often Should You Change Your Oil, Cincinnati?
Think you need to get your oil changed on the dot of 3,000 miles to keep your
car’s engine in prime repair? Not really. Though the lube shop might still write 3,000 miles on sticker they put on your window as a reminder, most manufacturers of cars made after 2000 recommend 7,500 miles. And it can vary. Volkswagen and Porsche, for example, recommend 10,000 miles. BMW can go as high as 15,000 miles. The key is to check under the hood. Oil should have a translucent color. When it gets dark brown, it’s time to be changed. Why waste money on oil changes when you don’t have to?
