The next time you come into European Auto Specialists and say, “Hey, can you fix my Porsche,” you just might get an earful about how fast a Porsche can go.
That’s because the 2017 Porsche 911 GT3 just knocked off 12 seconds of the benchmark Nurburgring lap time set by its predecessor, clocking 7 minutes and 12.7 seconds in an unmodified “standard trim”.
Ranked in Top 10 Fastest Cars
The Porsche model now ranks as one of the top ten fastest production cars to have set a time at the “Green Hell,” standing proudy with such hot rods as the Mercedes AMG GT R and the Nissan GT-R Nismo.
“By achieving this time, we have emphatically proven that the new 911 GT3 not only provides the best driving experience, but can also deliver an impressive performance on the Nordschleife,” said Porsche’s Frank-Steffen Walliser. “The focus was on optimising the driving quality and adapting to the slight increase in engine power.”
The new model adds new aerodynamic tweaks to what was already a powerful engine.
“…the power increase puts the new 911 GT3 on par with the leaner GT3 RS and ultra collectable 911 R – revealed at the Geneva show in 2016,” Auto Express reports.
A Much Welcomed Return to the Stick Shift
In addition to jaw dropping bugs in your teeth speed, this Porsche also boasts a manual transmission, something our Porsche technicians, purists that they are, can’t get enough of.
The 2017 Porsche 911 GT3 also boasts the Porsche Communication Management infotainment system that includes smartphone connectivity, Wi-Fi and the Porsche Track Precision data-logging app.
