What is a Radiator Flush?
A radiator flush is done to remove dirt and debris from the system to protect its components and ensure it works effectively. First, the original coolant is drained from the radiator. It is then replaced with new coolant mixed with water. The mixture then circulates through the system dissolving and removing any solid build up. When the circulation completes, that coolant is then replaced with fresh coolant. Most mechanics recommend flushing the radiator every 40,000 to 60,000 miles. It helps prevent the buildup of sediment and will improve both the functioning and durability of the radiator. It is something you should schedule on an annual basis, ideally before winter weather, depending on how often you drive.
