Porsche Sales Surge 20+%, 911 40+% Compared to 2017

Posted 9/10/18

Porsches are awesome cars. Our mechanics love them. Apparently, a lot of people do. The company just posted its sales numbers for this past February 2018, and they’re pretty impressive, which is good news. Our repair shop likely has its fair share of Porsche brake jobs and scheduled maintenance requests to look forward to. We can’t wait.

Sales were high for all 911s, 718s, Panameras, Cayennes, and Macans, so apparently, the surge is a result of the overall quality of the brand than just one particular model. Sales for the 911 models were up by 40.4 percent year-over-year. The 718s, including the Boxster and Cayman, were up by 37.4 percent year-over-year. Overall, Porsche enjoyed an average increase of 20.5 percent when compared to February 2017.

We Love Two-Door Porsches

“Our February sales were boosted by strong demand for our two-door sports cars and we showed impressive double-digit growth versus the same period last year,” Klaus Zellmer, President, and CEO of PCNA, said in a statement.

We’d like to think their sales boost is more likely due to their low scheduled maintenance needs and superior speed power, but that’s just because we’re Porsche geeks who may be just a little bit biased. This Ohio repair shop can’t seem to get enough of Porsche.

Never Be Afraid to Get a Second Opinion on Auto Repair

Does your car mechanic act like a bully? Oh, sure, they may pretend to be your best friend, but they practically “threaten” you under the guise of safety not to take the car to anyone else or ask for a second opinion. (You’d be surprised how many Cincinnati shops do this routinely.) Sure, it’s natural they want your business, but they should earn it fair and square like everyone else. It’s rare for a car to be truly too dangerous to drive down the street for a second opinion, and even if it is, it may well be worth the tow, especially if the repair is that serious. (To compete with AAA, the automobile service club, many insurance companies now offer free towing as part of their policy. Call your agent to see if you’re covered.) If the mechanic’s diagnosis and price is worth its weight in gold, it will stand up to a second opinion. After all, if you were having heart surgery, you’d want another doctor to weigh in, right?
