Porsche Readies its Mission E for Winter and Electric Car Market

Posted 6/25/18

Yep, it’s cold here in Cincinnati. What warms the hearts of our Porsche technicians in the frozen days of winter? Word that Porsche’s Mission E, its first all electric car, has been spotted putting the test to winter conditions.

Set to enter production in 2019, the sleek electric roadster promises a range of up to 310 miles and features brand new rapid charging technology.

“The prototypes will be fitted with a range of sensors, which feedback relevant data to engineers regarding the EV’s performance,” Auto Express reported. “The test mule bares a strong resemblance to the Mission E concept that previewed the model at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show; the headlamps on the test mule appear to be more traditional, similar to those on the Cayman, while the suicide doors have been axed for traditional front-hinged doors.”

Better Range, More Charging Options

With hopes to sell 20,000 Mission Es a year, Porsche is considering supplementing the range with a high-performance GT-E variant, as well as other versions with varying power outputs.

“We will think of different options and there will be more than one, with different levels of power,” Porsche CEO Oliver Blume told Auto Express.

Such a high powered battery will totally reinvent Porsche scheduled maintenance. Our electrical specialists are certainly looking forward to it,.

Software will also be easily updated over WiFi and the company may well be able to boost charging options.

“It will be possible to work with over-the-air options,” Blume said. “It isn’t decided yet, but it could be possible to charge up with more power. For example when you have 400bhp, it could be possible to upgrade to 450bhp.”

How’s Your Jaguar Technician?

Did James Bond ever take his sports car to the mechanic? He didn’t have to. He had Q and a Top Secret spy lab to fix the rocket launcher in the trunk. But who can you rely on? Do you have a technician that lives and breathes Jaguars? Doe he (or she) not only know everything there is to know about Jaguars but is absolutely obsessed by them? Jaguars are not ordinary cars. They require special love and care. Yes, they’ll require less repair than most cars, but they do need some from time to time. Get the most performance, the best durability, and keep that beauty running forever with great car repair. It really can make all the difference.
