How does the 2016 BMW 650i handle on the road? Forbes has a nice review that details BMW’s latest endeavor down to the nitty gritty.
For starters, don’t expect an all and out race car. This car is built for comfort, though maybe not for transporting children over booster seat age.
“Make no mistake though…, the 650i is no sports car,” Forbes contributor Sam Abuelsamid writes. “This is a grand tourer in the classic tradition, capable of gobbling up hundreds of miles at a stretch while keeping a couple comfortably ensconced.”
He adds: “…No one over about the age of six will find comfort there and they should really be in booster seats anyway.”
Performance Where It Matters
That said, Abuelsamid isn’t panning the new BMW by any margin.
“While the 650i is not a sports car, it does not by any means lack in performance,” Abuelsamid maintains. “It’s no lightweight at 4,275-pounds, but the thrust provided by the direct injected V8 with its pair of turbos ensconced between the cylinder banks is most impressive with the launch to 60 mph taking just 4.5-seconds. From legal highway speeds, a burst to triple digit velocity comes shockingly quickly as well. Those seeking even more acceleration can always get the higher output M6 with 560-hp and 500 lb.-ft. of torque.”
