Dream Big or Go Home: Mercedes-AMG Project One Costs Nearly $3 M

Posted 2/26/18

Got $2.72 million you don’t need? The next time you stop into our auto repair shop and say, “Hey, fix my Mercedes,” would you mind leaving a couple million as a tip? We could sure use it to buy the Mercedes-AMG Project ONE Showcar, an absolute dream of a vehicle that also carries a fantastical $2.72 million price tag. We’ll give you an extra shine, even sign autographs. We promise. It will be worth it.

Mercedes unveiled what sounds like a concept car at the Frankfurt Motor Show, but it will be produced and sold to anyone willing to plunk nearly $3 million on 4 wheels, some brakes and and engine.

The Verge reports:

“It’s not just inspired by Mercedes’ Formula One team, it’s actually built around the 1.6-liter V6 hybrid that Lewis Hamilton is using to lead the 2017 F1 championship. It has more than 1,000 horsepower and a top speed of ‘beyond’ 217 mph, which excites me even if it makes me wonder exactly what Mercedes means by that….

The interior takes cues from the F1 car, too, with the obvious focus being the racing-inspired wheel and seats. But you at least get a few creature comforts that aren’t otherwise found inside Mercedes’ Grand Prix competitor, like two big digital displays, air conditioning, and a dock for your smartphone in the center console.”

Rarer than Gold, Pricier than Diamonds

Mercedes only plans to make 275 of them, so start your Christmas list now. This car may be expensive but it will move quickly. Who knows? Perhaps it will even be the Tickle Me Elmo luxury vehicle of the 2017 Christmas Holiday season.

And though our electrical specialists have been extra good this year, let’s face it. They shouldn’t hold their breath.

What is a Radiator Flush?

A radiator flush is done to remove dirt and debris from the system to protect its components and ensure it works effectively. First, the original coolant is drained from the radiator. It is then replaced with new coolant mixed with water. The mixture then circulates through the system dissolving and removing any solid build up. When the circulation completes, that coolant is then replaced with fresh coolant. Most mechanics recommend flushing the radiator every 40,000 to 60,000 miles. It helps prevent the buildup of sediment and will improve both the functioning and durability of the radiator. It is something you should schedule on an annual basis, ideally before winter weather, depending on how often you drive.
