Audi’s Electric Vehicles and the Talent of Ken Block

Posted 2/21/22

Noted rally racer Ken Block has recently gone in a slightly different direction from his usual projects. While known from his collaborations with Ford and Subaru in the past, Block has just joined with Audi for the very first time. Recently announced by DirtFish, Block has partnered with Audi’s racing division—to work exclusively with their electric vehicles.

If you’ve never heard of him before, Block rocketed into the rally racing world in 2005, where he won the Rally America Rookie of the year award. Since then, he’s done his fair share of racing (and skateboarding, and snowboarding, and motocross), and has become HHIC (Head Hoonigan in Charge) at Hoonigan Industries. During this time he’s worked closely with teams at both Ford and Subaru while snatching rally racing wins along the way. A Hoonigan—if you aren’t familiar with the term—is defined by the company as “A person who operates a motor vehicle in an aggressive and unorthodox manner, consisting of, but not limited to, drifting, burnouts, doughnuts as well as acts of automotive aeronautics.” So, Ken Block—“Head Hoonigan”—likes racing, he likes cars, and as his new connection with Audi’s electric vehicles shows, he likes the environment.

When the partnership was announced, Block said that “Audi, is the brand that ignited my passion for motorsport.” He sees that electric cars are the future, both in terms of speed and performance, and in their importance in the reduction of overall emissions. With the combination of Block and Audi, no one will be able to say that today’s electric vehicles aren’t both smart and fast.

For more information about these merging of minds, DirtFish has all of the details.
