Mercedes is known for great cars, but not necessarily for its affordability. Well, the times they are a-changing. BMW is planning to release its A-Class Sedan, an “entry level” Mercedes with an expected price tag of just $30,000. The company designed its price for younger generations, many of whom may be new to the brand but just want a great, reliable car.
Entry level of not, Mercedes is known for a reliable scheduled maintenance plan, and this car is no different.
CNET.com gives us the rundown:
“From a design standpoint, the A-Class concept is cleaner and less cluttered than the CLA with noticeably fewer character lines and creases. The headlights are angular and sharp, which helps to make the new Mercedes ‘Panamericana’ corporate grille stand out. While both the current CLA-Class and forthcoming A-Class are technically sedans, the CLA received the same CL-style badge as the coupe-like CLS-Class. Whether or not the new A-Class will adopt the same frustratingly steep rear glass, and the poor rear headroom that goes with it, will remain to be seen.”

And while the price tag makes it an ideal entry Mercedes for young people, the car also promises plenty of goodies for their parents.
“It’s a very attractive car for younger people,” the brand’s global sales chief Britta Seeger told Automotive News. “But not only for younger people — it can have a broad audience because it’s a nice entrance into the Mercedes-Benz family.”
There was at first some debate as to whether the luxury car market would be open to a smaller option.
“But Mercedes decided to do a sedan variant with the coming generation for markets such as China, in addition to the U.S,” Automotive News reported. “The company showed a design concept of the A-class sedan in April at the Shanghai auto show. In June, it showed U.S. dealers the vehicle and confirmed its on-sale plan for 2018.”
So finally a Mercedes our mechanics can afford without taking out an extra mortgage on their house in Cincinnati. Finally, the great reliability, brakes, and engines of Mercedes are within pricing range of the rest of us.
