Own a Mercedes? You don’t need to tell us they’re awesome cars. In fact, we have one Mercedes mechanic who owns several. Like donuts, who can stop at just one?
But if you do have a Mercedes sitting in the garage, you might want to check to see if yours is affected by the latest recall. The company recalled over 1 million cars around the world due to faulty wiring that can cause the driver’s airbag to deploy at any second.
“The problem lies in the steering column, where an electrostatic discharge, a broken clock spring and insufficient grounding can sometimes lead to the airbag inadvertently deploying,” the New York Daily News reports. “To fix this issue, the German automaker’s recall will add new grounding to the steering components.”
Is Yours on the List?
The recall affects nearly 500,000 cars in the US. To find out if yours is on the list, visit this site and enter in your VIN number. Or you could just stop into our auto repair shop in Cincinnati for your Mercedes scheduled maintenance. We’ll be happy to tell you’re affected by the recall.
