Admit it. We’ve all done stupid stuff as a teenager. If we’re lucky, we walked away from it. Years later, these shenanigans might even make a good wedding story. Chances are though, we didn’t post them on Instagram.
A Georgia teen had the audacity to Instagram a cellphone video of himself driving a stolen Porsche SUV.
“He also was boasting in the social media that everyone else was stealing Fords, and he’s got a Porsche,” Hapeville Police spokeswoman Adrea Boyes stated.
Police say the teen, likely along with an accomplice, stole two high-performance Porsche SUVs as they were being delivered at Porsche North American Headquarters on Jan. 16.
“(Surveillance) video shows a white sedan pulling in and a young man approaching the side of the truck,” WSBTV news reported. “Police say while the delivery driver was around the back of the truck, the teenager got into the truck cab and took the keys of one or more vehicles that the driver had already offloaded.”
Nearly $210,000 in Stolen Porsches
The stolen Porsche Cayenne was valued at more than $120,000. What’s even more surprising is that the teen and an accomplice busted a U-turn, turned around and went back for more.
“While the delivery driver was waiting for police to arrive, the car thieves returned and stole a second SUV, a Porsche Mican with an estimated value of $90,000,” WSBTV news reported.
And the teens actually got away. The SUVs were found later abandoned in two separate Atlanta locations, one Porsche in badly need of repair.
“When the white Porsche left, they left the scene at such a high rate of speed they actually almost hit the delivery truck driver,” Boyes said. The SUVs were said to be driving at rates over 100 mph. Talk about giving those Porsche brakes a test drive!
And then one teen bragged about it on social media. He has been identified and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Police suspect at least two to three others are also involved.
So stay safe. Don’t steal cars or engage in high speed police pursuits, and watch those privacy settings, kids!
