Cincinnati Car Repair Advice: Fixing Radiators

If you need to repair a radiator, understand that new radiators are made of two components. The aluminum section provides the heat exchange, working as a core. It is a much more difficult job for a car mechanic, as the core is too thin to weld. Brazing can work in some cases, but sealing problems can develop. Plastic is the other component in radiators, which can be fixed but require special tools you’ll only find in a service garage. If you’re leaking transmission fluid, however, the only real long term fix is to simply replace the entire radiator itself. When radiators wear out, they reach a point where they’re not worth fixing beyond a roadside cure to get you to the next garage.
